Crystalyte 35 series motor/controller/batteries for my M-750X build

The motor/controller/batteries for my M-750X build came in yesterday thanks to Scratch1973. It's quite a kit for the price. I checked all 3 batteries and they were out of balance. Two of the packs are somewhat damaged but it looks as if they are held in a metal outer case under the thin shrinkwrap plastic cover. They do not have balance leads which is surprising. So I'll be disassembling the packs, adding the JST-HX balance wires, testing each cell of each pack, and reassembling it perhaps into a different configuration.

I liked that the battery had a pre-charge resistor. This eliminates the possibly huge ZAP that happens when you hook up a large voltage to a controller.

New tiny waterproof digital voltmeter

In building my A123 packs, I needed a quick way to determine the total pack voltage. I plan on using a pair of Cell-log meters that can monitor up to 8 cells per meter, but I also needed a meter to tell me total pack voltage. This one seemed perfect for the job It's very compact, can be panel mounted (mounted flush to the surface of the case and is waterproof. The LEDs are red so should be highly visible day or night.

I can now make Tidalforce connectors! (Delphi Metri-Pack 460)

With the purchase of all of the necessary parts, I am now able to make Delphi Metri-Pack 460 connectors. I used some 10 gauge silicon wire and the connector looks and works beautifully. If you need a pair or two, let me know and I'll get them made for you.

I love these connectors because they are so dependable (they lock together) and they are completely waterproof. There are seals for the cables and the connectors as well. These are very high quality connectors.

If I were to make more, I would probably use 12 gauge silicon wire instead since the 10 gauge is a very tight fit. It works, but it's fairly tight.

eBikes.ca Cycle Analyst and Lights

I picked up a set of eBikes.ca (Grin Technologies) parts this past week. One is a small screen Cycle Analyst Stand Alone (SCCASA).

I also picked up the waterproof front and rear lights from eBikes.ca. They are very bright, very compact and mount easily to the bike via Zip Ties. They are also very versatile in that they can take any DC voltage from 12-100V, are virtually indestructible since they are lego-like blocks, have a memory so will come back on in it's former state (on/off/flashing) and can actually be wired as a brake light if so configured. Did I mention they're waterproof! :)

The tail light is very bright and the body is translucent so can be seen from all sides. The front light is opaque so projects lights forward only.

eBikes.ca blown controller pictures

I recently purchased a bad controller from a clearance sale from ebikes.ca. Occasionally, they will post ads on Endless-sphere.com to sell lots of returned or damaged components. They can range from bad motors to old model Cycle Analysts to bad controllers. I bought the 9 Continents motor and the Infineon 35A 48V controller then. I opened it up to take a look and it looks perfectly brand new! Of course, according to them, it doesn't work so I need to troubleshoot it and replace the bad FETs.

Ebikes.ca 9 Continents motor and blown controller arrive!

I grabbed some more items from ebikes.ca's post Xmas clearance of their damaged and returned items. Here are the Nine Continents 2805 or 12x5 motor partially mounted in a 20" rim and a 48v 35A AOT460 based controller with blown high side FETs. I had Adam at eBikes.ca include 8 additional FETs and new cabling for the motor since the insulation and integrity of the motor may not be 100%. They packed the items well (as you can see) and it arrived in one piece.

I plan on fixing the cabling and moving the motor to a 26" rim and putting it on one of my Tidalforce M-750 frames to have a lighter folding setup to have in the trunk of my car for mid-day rides at work.

Delphi Metri-Pack 480 Connector Parts Arrive

I ordered some Delphi connectors for the Tidalforce bike battery upgrade projects I'm working on. These are pricey but very high quality. They have the extra bonus of being waterproof and they lock when mated. Two things that Anderson PowerPoles don't do!
